Friday Floral – Plumosa Fern!

Plumosa fern, a beautifully airy greenery has a very delicate layered look with its spreading stems and soft, small needles. Despite the name, plumosa fern is not actually a true fern, rather it is a bushy evergreen, twining vine with climbing stems. The stems of the plumosa fern can grow up to several meters in length making them perfect for providing loose, airy volume without overpowering your favorite blooms.

An excellent choice for any garden style wedding bouquet, plumosa fern adds so much texture and shape. Depth for the all white bouquet and lightness for the deep moody blooms, this fern is very versatile.

A couple of my favorite ways to use plumosa fern is winding it through a table runner or wrapped and delicately hanging down from a chandelier. These stems add space where other greenery may seem overly thick and shape in beautiful soft blurry lines.

Also a great choice for boutonnieres, the plumosa fern is very forgiving and does not wilt as quickly as true ferns. Again, adding soft texture to blooms and pods that have hard edges.

If you are looking for the perfect greenery to highlight and complement the flowers of your spring or summer wedding, look no further than plumosa fern! Alexan Events will help you create a stunning floral plan that will be as beautiful and unique as you are!
