Wedding Theme: Strawberry Fields!

Summer is creeping closer and closer and we are working with our summer brides to make final decisions on their decor and flower choices. Today I wanted to share one super sweet wedding and floral design theme that is sure to impress. Strawberry, the perfect theme for any summer wedding! Strawberry desserts and drinks are great for any type of event, because everyone loves them, but you can also choose to display them or their signature color in your floral designs and bouquets. Here are a few of my favorite ways to highlight this sweet beauty on your wedding day!

Strawberries as the theme of your reception dessert display is an obvious choice for this delicious and colorful fruit. You can make so many adorable creations for your guests to snack on like the mini strawberry shortcakes above. Both fun and refreshing, these sweet treats would work perfectly during cocktail hour or as a complement to the main event, the towering wedding cake covered in strawberries!

One area of your wedding that may not be the obvious choice for your favorite fruit, but one that is stunning all the same, is in your floral designs. Whether you choose to add the fruit itself to your bouquets and arrangements or simply highlight their signature color, the affect will be both sweet and sophisticated. I suggest adding a little bit of pink or peach as seen in the photos above to soften the bright and juicy strawberry red.

My last strawberry feature for today and perhaps my favorite way to enjoy strawberries is with a little bit of bubbly. Simply add the fresh fruit to a glass of champagne for gorgeous display or highlight the sweet strawberry flavor with a signature cocktail. I will leave you with an Alexan Events favorite:

2 1/2 cups strawberries, quartered

2/3 cup mint leaves

3 tbs sugar

1 lemon, juiced

2 bottles rose

1/2 cup club soda

In a large pitcher combine 1 cup of strawberries with 1/2 cup mint, sugar and lemon juice. Muddle together until sugar is dissolved. Add remaining strawberries and mint. Add rose. Add club soda either by mixing into pitcher or by topping of each individual serving as desired.

Let sit for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to combine before serving.
